Alexandra Watkins of S.F. boutique naming firm Eat My Words has been named a finalist in tomorrow's Make Mine a Million $ Business event in New Mexico. She and 19 others are competing for the chance to win tools that will help her grow her independent business over the million-dollar mark, from financial and technological assistance to powerful mentorship from organizers Count Me In For Women's Economic Independence.

Winners will be determined by the vote of judges as well as audience members, and if we were there we'd be stumping for Watkins. While not her only milieu, she has a great passion and talent for naming food products and restaurants. Recent highlights from Eat My Words include Spoon Me, a frozen yogurt franchise from Utah, and Frigid, a gourmet ice cream shop coming soon to San Francisco that's already got a clever T-shirt to offer: "Not tonight dear, I have an ice cream headache." —Tamara Palmer

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
