Eighth Annual Candy Festival Returns to Fairfield

Posted By on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 5:25 PM

Fairfield is famous for housing the Jelly Belly factory, and less so for being home to the corporate office of veteran Bay Area chocolate maker Guittard. But both will be certain highlights of the city's eighth annual Candy Festival and Fall Craft Fair on Saturday, October 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Downtown Fairfield's Texas Street will be kitted out for a perfect kid's day out: Besides sugar, there will be balloon art, face painting, and an odd assortment of music and talent, including Lana Anderson and the Beedazzle Dogs, a canine magic revue. But what makes the 45 minute drive from San Francisco really worth it that day for those on the sweet beat is the free shuttle service that will operate every half hour between the Jelly Belly parking lot and the festival, so you can go there first and get a bag of their wonderful irregulars, better known as Belly Flops. -- Tamara Palmer

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
