Downtown happy hours involving not only cut-rate booze but free or nearly free food have been popping up with abnormal frequency lately: last week there was Morton's Carnivore Happy Hour and Ducca's Italian Barbecue Happy Hour. Both great deals, but not exactly vegetarian friendly. That's where today's FiDi happy hour-with-free-grub comes in: Italian spot Palio D'Asti (640 Sacramento at Montgomery) is doing a free pizza with the purchase of two drinks from the bar during happy hour -- Monday through Friday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Details here. And don't forget to bring along a stogie to puff.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
