Mmm: Charles Chocolates Free Summer Movie Series

Posted By on Wed, Aug 6, 2008 at 9:00 AM

Chuck Siegel's excellent Charles Chocolates (6529 Hollis, Emeryville) continues its sweets-themed free Summer Movie Series this Friday, August 8, with Mostly Martha, a 2001 German romantic comedy. While not specifically about chocolate, the film follows the travails of a female chef, with plenty of cooking thrown in for good measure. The series runs every second and fourth Friday through the end of August, beginning at 9:00 p.m. on the patio. And if foreign romantic comedy isn't exactly your cup of tea, go for the caramel corn, popped especially to scarf down during the flick. Then there's always the chocolate. Tons and tons of chocolate.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
