Bastille Day is Coming To Chez Papa Resto

Posted By on Thu, Jul 10, 2008 at 9:53 AM

Vive la révolution! Sacré blue! And any other cliché French expressions I'm forgetting! Bastille Day is coming up Monday, July 14, and my favorite Frenchies over at Chez Papa Resto are getting ready to celebrate with a three-course prix fixe affair created by Executive Chef David Bazirgan. Entree choices will include Châteauneuf du Pape Braised Lamb Daube with Market Vegetables and Rosemary Oil; Slow Poached Alaskan Halibut with Leek Ribbons, Asparagus, Black Truffle Emulsion, and Sel Gris; Loch Duart Salmon with Citrus Mélange, Orange Braised Fennel and Opal Basil; or Grilled Painted Hills Farm New York Steak with Sauce Béarnaise and Frites. There's at least one word in every entree that I can't pronounce. Very French indeed. It'll cost you $55.00 a piece, or $80.00 with wine pairing. For reservations call 415-546.-4134.-- Brian Bernbaum

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
