Just when I thought I'd written way too many times about
Incanto Chef Chris Cosentino (there was
Chilis and Bones,
Head To Tail,
Next Iron Chef, and
Brains and Eggs), here comes yet another reason to mention him: Monday, July 14 Incanto hosts its annual
Sicilian Mattanza Dinner. It's a four-course dinner with bluefin tuna as the guest of honor. The idea is to celebrate the ancient, communal tuna hunting ritual known as La Mattanza, which goes back to the Romans and is still practiced today by Sicilian fisherman. Sadly, the global demand for sushi-grade tuna is quickly pushing La Mattanza the way of the dodo, as
60 Minutes reported last year (check a clip of the story
here). So make haste tuna lovers. Dinner runs $65 per person. For reservations call 641-4500.
