Speaking of food-inspired artwork, the STUDIO Gallery (718A Polk Street) is currently showing their fourth annual Delicious exhibit -- through April 13 -- showcasing the work of over 70 local artists who find their muses in food and drink. Drop in for the reception this Saturday, March 15, from 4 -- 8:00 p.m. and work up an appetite. Check out advance photos from the show here. (via Bay Area Bites)

TV Champion Sampuru: Who's (Fake) Cuisine Reigns Supreme?

I've always been fascinated with the Japanese art of sampuru (sample in Japanese) the richly-detailed replica food displays often used to lure customers into a restaurant and help diners visualize the menu. So naturally, I'm obsessed with TV Champion, a Japanese reality show competition where two sampuru artists duke it out over who's (fake) cuisine reigns supreme!

I don't speak Japanese though, which makes full appreciation of this show difficult, but if you enjoy extreme close-up food porn and don't mind knowing that piece of perfectly-fried shrimp tempura is actually a lump of vinyl chloride, this show is definitely for you. (via Serious Eats)

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
