Let this story be a lesson to all of you holiday travelers carrying booze as gifts or, more likely, as a way to cope with your insane family: pack it in your checked luggage. Rather than hand over a liter of vodka at an airport security check, a 64-year-old apparently insane alcoholic chugged it on the spot and almost died from the resulting alcohol poisoning. That must have been some excellent vodka. Dumbass. (via Boing Boing)

Francis Ford Coppola, directing legend, winemaker and owner of North Beach's Cafe Zoetrope reveals yet another one of his connoisseur's pursuits: the perfect espresso, and the perfect espresso machine. The New York Times says he's very fond the Illy Francis Francis X7, a retro contraption set for sale in April for $699, that despite the obvious connection, isn't named for Coppola, who happens to be friendly with Illy head honcho Andrea Illy. Go figure.

The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
