If you missed Acro-Cats, the acrobatic cat troupe that sold out The Boxcar last weekend, let us take a brief moment of silence to mourn the loss of awesomeness that you could have witnessed.

Luckily, SF Weekly's videographer Andrew Lopez was on the scene so that we might bring you the next best thing -- animated GIFs from the show!

Now you can relive the paw-inspiring action any time you want. Frankly, we can't think of a better Monday time waster than watching cats ride skateboards, or you know, wrestling.

You can also, of course, read our hilarious interview with the Acro-Cats trainer, Samantha Martin.

5 Clown Questions Debunked From a Ringling Bros. Pro

At least once in our lives, we've all fantasized about staying young forever, rejecting corporate America, and running off to join the circus. Frances Tiffin, 20, did just that. After high school, when most of her acquaintances went to college, Tiffin made her dreams a reality. After attending circus school in Canada at L'École de Cirque de Quebec, she became a professional clown for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey. For the past ten months, Frances has toured across the country with Ringling Bros. Presents Dragons, and on August 8 she will return to perform in her beloved Bay.

Tiffin is quite the expert on all things clown. With experience at the Kinetic Arts Center, summers spent at Circus Smirkus, training under Jaron Hollander -- a Berkeley-based master of physical theater -- and now touring with Ringling, Tiffin has an extensive clowning repertoire. How many of us can say that with a straight face?

Here at SF Weekly, we've always had a few questions for clowns. We took this as an opportunity to debunk the mystery behind the big red nose.

Sex and the Gritty: Catch Circus Finelli's Latest Show

Posted By on Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 7:30 AM

If you ask us, there aren't enough memorable quartets that exist in recent history. The Wizard of Oz bunch, maybe. '90s R&B group Boyz II Men also comes to mind, as well as the oversnatchurated gals from Sex and the City.

Another Puppet Regime in the White House? Blinky Winky's Presidential Fundraiser

Any overeducated, Prius-driving, lefty cultural elitist worth her|his|its daily $10 coffee drink knows that America spent eight catastrophic years in the grip of a wicked puppet named W. The privileged faux-Texan flaunted his village idiocy, not caring whether people knew his strings were really pulled by Dick Cheney, the real-life Mr. Burns. We're here to tell you, fellow San Franciscans, that another wicked puppet is racing toward the White House, and he comes from our own ranks. His name is Blinky Winky. This puppet -- sorry, marionette -- stands about 2 feet high and looks like something from a Stephen King nightmare, his icy stare a disturbing, multicolored mixture of menace and uncaring. He holds a presidential fundraiser tonight (Monday) at El Rio.

The Flow Show Makes Sideshow Arts the Main Event

Posted By on Thu, Apr 5, 2012 at 11:30 AM

If you've ever stumbled upon a fire jam, or a melee of staff-wielders, or even just a common group of jugglers, you know that the "flow arts" have gone the way of the drum circle: Anyone can join, and often (sadly) they do. Luckily for us, some become skilled enough to be hired by nightclubs, bands, or corporate events, while others join small circuses or form troupes. But only a few rise to the level of real artistry. Anah Reichenbach is one of those few. Reichenbach's act is among those featured this weekend in The Flow Show at Dance Mission Theater.

Circus Finelli and the Black Hats: Clowns Meet Klezmer

Circus Finelli - GUY WEBSTER

Our city is a political circus. Joshua Norton declared himself emperor of the United States during the Gold Rush. Punk rocker Jello Biafra and comedian Will Durst ran for mayor. District Attorney Terence Hallinan was nicknamed "K.O." because he liked fistfights. Mayor Frank Jordan broadcast himself showering with two radio DJs. There's a lesser-known face in this storied group who ran for mayor last year. His name is Blinky Winky, and we have it on good authority he's now aiming for the White House. Mr. Winky also belongs to another circus -- Circus Finelli, whose members appear Wednesday with the Black Hats at El Rio.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
