Random Dating Stats To Keep You Entertained During Your Work Day

Remember the study we told you about a couple of weeks ago that showed there is an increase in dating app registrations in the spring?

Apparently it's spring, although we can't tell because Karl ate our whole city and we've barely been able to see our hands in front of our faces the past couple of days. But since it's apparently spring, that means more people are signing up for dating apps, which means more potential matches are looking at your profile, which means your profile should look its best.

The website DatingSitesReviews.com published an article on how to "spring clean" your online dating profile.

The article advises to update your interests on your dating profile. We think this is important, especially if you're using Tinder, since that connects to your Facebook. Anyone who created their Facebook profile when they were 16 or 17 years old should probably consider revising their information so it shows up differently on their dating profile, unless you want potential matches to think you're still into Fall Out Boy

Same with your Facebook pictures — since Tinder and other similar dating sites pull pictures straight from Facebook, you want to make sure there aren't still any pictures of you with braces or a Hot Topic T-shirt on your profile.

The article also suggests expanding your location preferences to potentially meet more people — we're not sure how we feel about this one, since San Francisco is so small, so if you expand your preferences past seven miles, you're likely to be getting matches from outside the city. But that's OK, too.

The site also provides some dating statistics that users can consider when revamping their profile. For example, women who send messages to men on dating apps are 40 percent more likely to receive a reply if their message is "longer than a Tweet," i.e. a couple of short sentences. Also, women are 73 percent more likely to get a reply to a message to a man if they say anything about dinner, lunch, or drinks. (Typical.)

Also, as of 2015, there are 91 million people internationally who use dating apps. Two out of three international dating app users are men, and seven out of ten international dating app users are between 16 and 24 years old. Crazy, right?

Good luck revamping your profile!

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
