One of the advantages of having the World Series on Fox is that they can cross-promote with anything else the network has going on; thankfully that doesn’t mean Sean Hannity has box seats. It does however mean that Robin Taylor who plays the Penguin and Donal Logue who plays gruff cop Harvey Bullock on Gotham had choice seats on Sunday night. The two are actually sort of handsome in real life, at least on the Jumbotron. I’ve mentioned before that Taylor is the best thing on the show. I fear that if I had run into him at the game I would’ve gushed all that out like a little school girl. Good thing I was safe at home.

Speaking of the Penguin, we delved a bit deeper into his psyche this week when he goes to stay with his mama, played by Carol Kane. Her character is similar to Frances Conroy’s in Freak Show — the doting mother of a sociopath. Gotta love it. Gotham has taken the mommy thing up a notch by infusing some strange sexual undercurrent though. Penguin’s mother doesn’t want him to be spending time with any slutty women, and basically all women are sluts. Ergo he can’t ever date any women. He can, however, be sponged bathed by her. Eww.

500 Brunches: Have Brunch With Strangers and Find a New Friend?

Posted By on Tue, Oct 28, 2014 at 10:00 AM

In most major U.S. cities, there is no shortage of ways to meet a potential date. It seems like we hear about a new dating app or matchmaking company every other week. But what about ways to meet potential new friends or potential business partners? Maybe in a bar? But drunkenly shouting that you like someone's shoes and then taking selfies together while the latest Ke$ha single plays in the background isn't really a strong foundation for a lasting friendship.

Because of this, Julie Krafchick founded 500 Brunches, a platform for people to meet other people with similar interests, either personal or professional.

“The idea is to bring back more of an organic way to meet people,” says Krafchick. “There’s a ton of dating sites and networking sites, but there’s not really a place to meet people in general. I really wanted to find a way to connect people in real life again.”

For the first time ever, pygmy seahorses have been successfully bred in captivity — and it happened right here in San Francisco.

The tiny breeding pair, which according to KQED's "Deep Look" YouTube video are no bigger than a paper clip when fully grown, were plucked from orange sea fan coral 80-feet under the surface of the ocean near the Philippines and moved to the California Academy of Sciences. Once there, the pair bred and answered a question scientists had about this species of seahorse.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
