San Francisco's drag community — its vast fan base and the LGBT community as a whole — were shocked when news broke of the August 25 passing of Arturo Galster at age 55. The gifted performer was an audience favorite, appearing in many shows which embodied the City's queer culture; he was a mainstay at shows that also featured drag legend Doris Fish, who died of AIDS in 1991. Fish and Galster, in fact, co-starred in the hit underground film Vegas in Space (1991).

Galster was also a powerful singer. From 1982-89 he toured the country every summer, performing as legendary country singer Patsy Cline — he belted out many of Cline's classic tunes with his own powerful pipes. Galster really did it all in his 25 years as a performer: drag clubs, musical theater, film.

And on Monday, September 22, Arturo Galster will be remembered at the Castro Theatre. A Celebration of Arturo Galster will commence at 7:30 p.m. and will be a free event open to all. The beautifully iconic movie palace is a fitting place to honor Galster's memory as the theater's stage is one of the many that were graced by his talents.

But seriously folks… what if you created the ultimate reality show and then slowly realized that no one gives a shit? This, gentle watchers, is what is happening with Utopia. There is nothing that separates this show from Big Brother except for contests. It’s a bunch of galoots forced to cohabitate.

BeLinked: Your LinkedIn Profile Enters the Dating App Game

Wow, you really seem to know a lot about newsletter-based marketing, want to meet for drinks some time? - BEVAN GOLDSWAIN/SHUTTERSTOCK

While job interviews can be a lot like first dates (just add alcohol) — the first impressions, sharing information about yourself that's not too telling (yes: you like to run; no: and afterwards sit on the couch in your underwear and watch a Maury he-is-not-the-father marathon) — we've never actually crossed the two. Meaning, we've never actively sought out a date on the same basis we choose a job. But apparently some people in the dating world are looking for a job and a date that utilize social media marketing skills and have a background in newsletter campaigns. And the dating app for that is BeLinked.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
