Fox News Uses a Lesbian Photo in a Traditional Marriage Article

In an article about traditional gender roles in marriage, Fox News mistakenly used a picture of two lesbian brides kissing on top of the Empire State Building. SheWired pointed out this amazing faux pas, that has since been changed to a generic bathroom sign image of a man and woman.

The article by Suzanne Venker advocates for a return to traditional gender roles, though she doesn't really elaborate on what that means, aside from (paraphrasing) "Feminism has destroyed everything! Women had it better back in the day because only 103 were killed on the Titanic! Women today are slutty and that's why no one wants to marry you!"

Here's an excerpt:

Prior to the 1970s, people viewed gender roles as as [sic] equally valuable. Many would argue women had the better end of the deal! It's hard to claim women were oppressed in a nation in which men were expected to stand up when a lady enters the room or to lay down their lives to spare women life. When the Titanic went down in 1912, its sinking took 1,450 lives. Only 103 were women. One-hundred three.
She's right. 1912 was totes better for women. Except for the whole not being able to vote thing, and the marital rape is fine thing, and the abortion is illegal thing, and, well, other things that hurt our delicate lady brains to think about, so we'll just move on.

Fox News and Venker were too busy waging war on women's rights to notice that the picture they chose to accompany their regressive blather was a lesbian couple, Stephanie and Lela Figarelle, profiled in HuffPo as one of the first gay couples to wed atop the Empire State Building in New York. Whoops!

"Feminism didn't result in equality between the sexes -- it resulted in mass confusion" writes Venker, unironically.

Thanks for clearing up the confusion. We'll continue gaying up marriage, and if Fox News and Co. don't like it, there is always room for them on the Titanic.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
