Comedy Royale
Cafe Royale
Wednesdays, Monthly at 8 p.m.

Local comedian Nick Palm, in association with Strange Brothers Productions and Cafe Royale, present a new stand-up showcase in the heart of downtown.

Tonight's show features some of the Bay Area's favorite vets and new faces. Headliner Big Al Gonzales is a Los Angeles-based comedian, actor, and writer. His wildly popular monthly event, "Big Al's Big Ass Comedy Show" plays all over California. And Shanti Charan was our Best Stand Up on the Way Up in our "Best of" lineup this year. She is one of the hottest and fastest rising stars in the local comedy scene.

Senseless Bureau Improv
Spice Monkey
Wednesdays at 8 p.m.

The Senseless Bureaucrats, the East Bay's witty improv troupe, come together every Wednesday for a truly unique show. They take random suggestions from the audience to craft clever scenes, putting on a custom show for each new audience. Watch the Senseless Bureau simultaneously write, act, and direct comedic sketches.

"Comedy Confessions" at Dirty Trix
Dirty Trix Saloon
Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Every Wednesday, this comedy open mic features the best and brightest, and the boldest and the newest, of Bay Area comics. Comedians line up early to perform at this show, so if you want a chance at the mic, get in line! If you'd rather be a part of their "reasonably inebriated" audience, just show up, grab a Pabst, and enjoy the show!

Awkward Silence is a weekly column covering local stand-up comedy in San Francisco.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
