S.F. Street Style: Shades of Winter

Posted By on Fri, Dec 9, 2011 at 1:00 PM

This week on the street, I kept noticing color over everything else. It seems that, with the sudden arrival of real winter weather in San Francisco, the city's mindset has shifted to the holidays. The stylish folks I spotted chose either bright, bold, or celebratory colors, or a wintry palette of neutrals. I personally prefer the pops of color, especially as it gets gloomy, but there's still something chic and understated about all the layers of brown and gray. I also photographed some downright dapper guys this week, so if you've missed seeing boys on the blog, brace yourselves. They're back!

Supposedly it's a fashion faux pas to mix brown and black together, but I think that rule applies only when you're not doing it as well as this fellow. The success of his style is in the details -- the brown and black striped tie really pulls everything together. And a cute smile never hurts either.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
