Although we're headed into San Francisco's blissful Indian summer, let us not be fooled. We all know, deep down, that when the wonderful month of sunny September comes to a close, it's back to donning our bulkiest winter coats for all evening activities. For some, finding something cute for bundling up is as easy as going downtown and picking out whatever Marc Jacobs knock-off Forever 21 is pushing. But for others, it ain't no walk in the mall.

Finding a wool and/or fur free winter coat is damn near impossible, and if you're able to procure one, it's usually hideous -- emphasis, hideous -- and/or made from environmentally destructive PVC. Bullshit! What's an animal loving, on-trend lady or gentleman to do? The usual solution is just to wear about 15 sweaters and pray to the temperamental Bay Area weather gods, but this weekend there appears to be another option. We've recently become aware of Vaute Couture, an animal- and environment-friendly company that specializes in ethically sourced, fair trade, and most importantly, cute-ass coats, will be in town.

You heard it here first: Vegan fashion is no longer burlap sacks and hemp bras. Uh, that is to say, it's no longer just burlap sacks and hemp bras. Vaute Couture and companies like it let you give a shit about animals and the environment without looking like your permanent residence is a tree.

Normally if you want to try on this company's goodies, you have to be in Manhattan. But this weekend it's putting on a pop-up shop in the Mission. You can try on the entire 2011 collection (warning: PDF), eat a million free delicious cupcakes from Fat Bottom Bakery, and drink gallons of champagne. Delightful! And the coats are being offered on super sale to early orderers. This is excellent news for all you cheap motherfuckers.

Of all Vaute's adorable designs, we're eyeing the sleek upcycled indigo windbreaker and the tough-yet-sensible Emily coat. Buy them for us immediately. We do so much for you! And we ask for so little in return! Besides expensive coats!

This weekend's Vaute Couture pop-up shop at VegNews' offices in the Mission is by appointment only; sign up here.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
