Like most Americans, I celebrated my independence this weekend. I didn't drink a lot of beer or blow anything up, though. I just went to a fashion show. Specifically, Pret-A-Porter SF 2011.

I thought it would be fairly innocuous, but things got explosive before I even showed up. Trying to obtain a press pass, I suddenly found myself receiving my first ever all-caps screaming e-mail -- from the event's producer. He "unapproved" my presence at the event. But I went anyway. Here are a few photos of the fashionable attendees I managed to smuggle out, along with a few other independent San Franciscans.

Thank goodness for people like this guy. I feel like this outfit could easily be found on a fashion don'ts page -- but that's not where it belongs! First off, he's clearly knowledgeable about menswear. You can see it in the subtle details like the tie clip and the pocket square. Also, he chose colors that suit each other well; I especially like the teal and cabernet together. And look how happy he is! He's expressing himself, and he knows he looks good. If you think zany might be your thing, too, follow his style blog.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
