My Strange Addiction Casting in San Francisco

Posted By on Thu, Jun 2, 2011 at 8:30 AM

Why are you wasting your neuorosis on your shrink? It could make you famous! TLC freak show nonpareil My Strange Addiction is currently looking on Craigslist for people willing to appear on the show in return for a little facetime on cable.

For those that haven't seen the show, because they still have things like "dignity" or "no cable," it's a standard-issue reality show in the vein of Hoarders or Intervention, that features people with very non-standard obsessive behaviors.

We've got the Craigslist ad after the jump.

The Craiglist ad reads:

Do you have an uncommon addiction that is taking over your life?

Is your obsession so unique that you don't know where to turn?

TLC's "My Strange Addiction" is casting men and women struggling with odd compulsions, uncommon obsessions, and unique addictions to share their stories on a documentary television series. You'll have the opportunity to explore your addiction in a safe environment, open up to friends and family about it, and speak to a professional about your behavior.

Professional medical and/or psychological perspectives on why patients struggle with these issues will be provided, if applicable to your situation.

Just how uncommon does your addiction need to be? Well, the first gut-churning season introduced to viewers to people such as:

Adele, a 30-year-old woman who compulsively eats couch cushions to help quell her anxiety.

Davecat, a totally normal, non-serial killer guy who is happily married to a life-size doll.

Lori, a woman addicted sleeping next to her blow dryer -- no matter the risk for severe skin burns or a house fire.

As anyone who's taken a trip on Muni can tell you, the producers should have no trouble finding a few S.F. citizens who can easily match that class of cuckoo.

In fact, we'll just say it right now: San Francisco, the gauntlet is down. If we can't produce one person crazier than the woman who eats couch cushions, it may be time to seriously reconsider what we're collectively doing, as a city. Go big or go home.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
