Check Out and Check In with Our Best Of... App

Posted By on Wed, May 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM

Our brand new Best Of... issue isn't just on newsstands. It's in the App Store.

Our free iPhone app takes the Best Of... issue and crams it into your pants (or purse). You can find out which Best Of... spot is closest to you, check in via Facebook to let your friends know where you're at, and vote on locations for our Readers' Poll -- all from your phone.

Use it to check out and check in to five of our Best Of... winning locations around town, and we'll even hook you up with a prize package worth more than $350.

Check in at five winning locales, and you'll be instantly entered to win our Best Of... prize package worth more than $350. Included in the package:

$50 gift certificate to Gama-Go

$100 gift card to Cocoon Urban Day Spa

$50 gift certificate to the Presidio Bowling Center

Four guest passes to SFMOMA

5 free classes at Yoga Tree

Not bad! Want to know how to check in? Follow along:

When you arrive at a location, open up the app and hit the "Near Me" monocle. Hit the pushpin for the location you're camped out at.

You'll be taken to this screen. Hit the "Check In" button in the upper right (we've helpfully put up a few red arrows to guide your eyes). You'll need to be logged into your Facebook page.

From there, choose if you want to let people know where you are via Facebook or Twitter, and then hit the "Check In Here" button.

And you're done! Once you've checked in to five places around town, you'll automatically be entered into our prize package contest. Not only that, you'll get the "Best Of San Francisco" badge on Facebook. We'll announce a winner on June 22.

To get started, follow this link over to the iTunes store (or search "Best Of" in the App Store), download it to your iPhone, and discover even more reasons to love your city.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
