San Francisco State's comedy team has beaten its UC Berkeley counterpart in a national online competition and, starting today, takes on Portland State University. The tournament is Rooftop Comedy's National College Comedy Competition, whose top prize is an appearance on a TBS special in the fall. In the first two rounds, teams from colleges across the nation taped stand-up segments that were put on the site and subject a vote. During this round, the teams roast each other. Watch SF State's four-person team take on all things Portland in the clip above. Then, once you're done drying your eyes from laughing so goddamn hard, vote for our guys.
The tournament is Rooftop Comedy's National College Comedy Competition. In it, people watch video clips of teams from across the country and cast their votes. The SF State and Cal teams recorded short sets at the Purple Onion.
The SF State team consists of Jesse Fernandez, Jules Posner, Pharoah Daniels, and Zach Chiappellone. The competition started with 32 teams and is now down to the Ultimate 8. The surviving teams - the Final Four - will be reviewed by a panel of judges from the entertainment industry. That panel will decide a winning team as well as four individual MVPs. The MVPs will perform on TBS Presents Just for Laughs, Chicago.
Voting in this round opened today and stays open through May 2. So cast your vote and show the world that even though Portland has a TV show named after it, San Francisco is still No. 1 in comedy.
