Several Bay Area artists who deal in erotic and kinky themes plan to hold a fundraiser Sunday called Shibari Relief aimed at helping victims of the recent disaster in Japan, according to Mark I. Chester.

Chester, a self-described gay radical sex photographer, is organizing the benefit with Patti Beadles, who is also a photographer. Chester says there will be a silent auction, sale, and raffle of art depicting BDSM and sexual content. Other items offered might include books, Chester says, as well as gift certificates that can be redeemed for photo sessions with certain artists.

The work of Chester and Beadles will be featured, as well as that of Shilo McCabe. Other artists are to be announced.

"We feel helpless as we watch this tragedy unfold before us, but we don't have to be helpless," Chester says. "We can come together as a community and in a show of support, raise funds for the much needed work that is to come."

There is no admission fee, Chester says, but a $20 donation will be accepted. (No one will be turned away for lack of funds, he adds.) All money raised at the event will go to the American Red Cross, specifically aimed at helping victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Shibari Relief is Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Wicked Grounds kink cafe and boutique. For more information check the website or call Chester at (415) 621-6294.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
