A 28-year-old man was rushed to the hospital last night with multiple head wounds after he was assaulted while waiting for a Muni bus in the Mission District.

Police say the victim was at the Muni stop at 12th and Mission streets at about 8:30 p.m. when two unknown men walked up behind him and punched him in the head, knocking him to the ground.

While the man was on the ground, the attackers pulled out a hammer and knocked him over the head, says Officer Gordon Shyy.

The men took the victim's money and fled on foot.

The victim, who was bleeding from the head and his ears, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he's expected to survive.

Anyone with information about this incident should call the cops at 415-575-4444. Also, watch your surroundings at Muni bus stops.
