Wilbert Williams: Homeless Man Killed By Suspected Drunk Driver

San Francisco have identified the homeless man who was run over by a car while sleeping in the street as 62-year-old Wilbert Williams.

According to police, Williams, a San Francisco resident, was snoozing near the Fifth Street on-ramp in SoMa at about 1:10 a.m. on Sunday when a driver in a Toyota SUV veered off the roadway into a dirt embankment and hit the sleeping man.

The driver was identified as 27-year-old Jaime Juarez.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Juarez was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with minor injuries. According to the Examiner, he was later arrested on suspicion of DUI and felony manslaughter.

Juarez has been booked into San Francisco County Jail.
