Homeless Guy Allegedly Stabs Man During Fight (Update)

Update 12:37 p.m.: Police say they arrested 54-year0old Boyd James Craft on suspicion of attempted homicide. The victim's condition has been upgraded and he is expected to survive.

Original Story 10:59 a.m.: Yesterday, we told you about a stabbing over the weekend that left a man in his 20s in critical condition. Police are now releasing more details on crime, saying it was a homeless man who stabbed the victim multiple times.

According to Sgt. Eric O'Neal, police were called to out to Folsom and the Embarcadero at about 1:45 a.m. on Sunday on reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found the victim -- a 26-year-old man -- with stab wounds to his stomach and chest.

Police say the victim had been walking in the area with is girlfriend when, for unknown reasons, he got into an argument with a homeless man.

The fight escalated and, according to O'Neal, the homeless man pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times.

Police found the suspect -- a 55-year-old man -- hiding out near the crime scene. He was booked into San Francisco County Jail.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police have not yet updated his condition as of Tuesday morning.
