We read some really disturbing news this morning on NBC about a group of teenagers who badly beat David Lamont, a 51-year-old Pleasanton father, knocking him into a coma after he exercised his parental authority.
According to the news station, the high school kids were outside Lamont's house on the 4900 block of Middleton Place after midnight on Saturday making too much noise. When Lamont went outside and asked the kids to pipe down, the group of teens attacked him and left him bleeding on the sidewalk.
When Lamont didn't return, his wife, Agnes, went outside and found her husband of 25 years unconscious.
Lt. Scott Rohovit told NBC News that some witnesses saw a dark SUV leaving the scene and police believe teens from the town's only two high schools might be linked to the attack.
"It's so horrible and so cruel," Agnes Lamont said. "The fact that they left him there to die -- I can't understand it."
Lamont's wife and the couple's two teenage daughters, 15 and 19, have stayed by their father's side at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, hoping he will survive. Pleasanton police said they have no suspects at this time.
The Pleasanton Police Department is asking anyone who has information about this crime to call them at (925) 931-5100.
Also, now might be a good time to have a chat with your teens about their behavior in general.
