Medical authorities identified the man who was gunned down in the Mission District yesterday morning as 28-year-old Jose Matias-Aguilon of San Francisco.
Police say they have arrested two suspects in connection to the shooting, 20-year-old Sterling Samm of San Pablo and a 14-year-old boy.
On Oct. 30, just after midnight, police were called to the intersection of 20th Street and South Van Ness Avenue regarding a possible shooting. Upon arrival, officers from Mission Police Station found Matias-Aguilon lying on the sidewalk and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died. Meanwhile, additional cops combed the area, looking for the shooters. Witnesses gave officers some helpful information, and subsequently, they detained four people
in the area of 21st and Folsom streets. The cops canvassed the
area and located evidence, including two hand guns and several
discarded articles of clothing on the 600 block of Shotwell Street.
Both suspects were booked on charges of murder and firearms possession. Police would not release booking photos at this time.
