Earlier today we warned readers to be on the lookout for two men, one of whom allegedly robbed and raped a woman at gunpoint inside her motel room. A few hours later, police issued a sketch of another man wanted in a separate sexual assault and attempted murder in the Potrero neighborhood.
On Nov. 18, between 3 and 4:30 a.m., the suspect followed the victim as she walked from 24th Street to South Van Ness Avenue near Potrero Avenue. The suspect demanded money from the woman, but she told him she had no cash.
According to police, the suspect then grabbed the woman and took her to another location nearby; he strangled, punched, and slapped her before sexually assaulting her.
Afterward, the suspect ran off toward 25th and Alabama streets, police said.
The suspect was described as a black man with medium-to-light complexion. He is 35-to-50- years old and is 5-foot-11. He weighs about 160 pounds and has a round, clean-shaven face, big eyes, a round nose, thick lips, and gold teeth. He was wearing athletic apparel: a light gray hoodie with a front zipper, blue cotton running pants, and sporty tennis shoes that were possibly black and white.
