Breaking news from Jonathan Kauffman on our sister blog SFoodie:

According to staffers in the office of Assemblymember Paul Fong, the California Senate just passed AB 376, the statewide ban on selling or importing shark's fin, with a vote of 25 to 9. California may soon become the nation's fourth state to enact the ban -- and certainly the one with the largest Chinese American community -- which is aimed at combating the practice of shark finning. If the governor signs AB 376 into law, it will take effect January 1, 2013.

The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
