Update 1:45 p.m.: Police said they arrested 21-year-old Andrew Vargas on suspicion of driving under the influence. He has been booked on felony hit-and-run charges. Read more after the jump.

Hayward police detained the driver they believe hit a San Francisco boy last night and then sped off.

Lieutenant Troy Dangerfield told SF Weekly this morning that at about 1 a.m. police pulled over a driver in a white truck that matched the description of the large white Toyota pickup that had hit a 9-year-old boy last night. Witnesses identified the driver as the one responsible for the hit-and-run.

"I'm pretty sure he will be arrested," Dangerfield said. "But he's in a different jurisdiction right now."

The boy was hit at about 10:30 p.m. as he crossed Mission Street with a family member after the Giants game. The driver, who had been going in the wrong direction on New Montgomery --  a one-way street -- did a quick westbound turn and hit the boy.

The driver kept going, and continued hitting more cars, both moving and parked, Dangerfield said. The truck was last seen entering the freeway, headed toward the East Bay.

Police closed off the area to cars and pedestrians while investigating what they call a crime scene.

The boy remains in critical condition at San Francisco General Hospital. Police had no information on the suspect at this time. We will tell you more when we know more.

Update: Hayward police pulled Vargas over at about 11:30 p.m. and screened him for DUI. They found his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit. He has been booked on felony charges. Police said Vargas also hit a 58-year-old woman, who is suffering from a foot injury

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
