. The company no longer needs quite as many people focused on hiring, says Laszlo Bock, Google's vice president for people operations, in a blog post.
Although it's another sign the media industry is toast, we at SF Weekly
did get a small kick out of how we received this information -- via a Google Alert. Very small kick, actually.
Apparently, Google will also be closing engineering offices in Texas, Norway, and Sweden, but according to a spokesman, the 70 people working in those offices will be offered other jobs. Lucky them.
This just in: The economy still sucks. It sucks so bad, in fact, that Google, Inc.
