Spurred by a fatal accident in Cupertino that killed two cyclists and seriously injured a third, the Chronicle published an article today about the rising number of deaths caused by vehicle collisions in the Bay Area. While the number of actual accidents has declined, the rate of death has increased by 28 percent. Cyclists are more likely to die in rural settings where they're traveling at high speeds than in urban settings where less speed is involved. Santa Clara County, where the two cyclists were killed yesterday, has had the most fatalities of any area. A separate article in today's Chron says that the police officer who struck the three cyclists may have fallen asleep at the wheel.-Andy Wright

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
