Nothing Says "Thank You for Giving Birth to Me" Like a Twelve-Foot Tiki Pole

The New York Times reported yesterday on Trader Vic's weeklong warehouse sale in Richmond.

At the warehouse, Dave Peters, 38, a student in San Francisco, nostalgically recalled the “fistful of back scratchers” his mother brought home from her favorite Polynesian restaurants in the 1950s. “Look at these Easter Island dudes,” he said of the 12-foot-tall carved tiki poles. “Would my mother want one?”
