Well, here's a hell of a way to start the week. Meet OVVN, a heavy new band with members from Oakland and Guerneville who've only played three shows but have already mastered the art of the holy-shit-what-am-I-watching video. Shot in a creepy dark house in Richmond, "b l o vv n" serves up a Kubrick vs. Von Trier smorgasbord of naked asses, bleeding mouths, and the good ol' mangina tuck-and-tape with a soundtrack rivaling Godheadsilo in its prime. Watch, if you dare:

Expect OVVN's four-song debut cassette soon, and in the meantime, the band (Ethan Jayne, Max Kaufman, Guy Henry and Connor Alfaro) is steadily playing house parties around the Bay Area. On the way home after their cramped, sweaty show in a garage last night, I rode past a palm reader, a prostitute, and a head shop -- which, come to think of it, are the very things you may need to consult while recovering from the three minutes above.

More ways to get ovvned, blovvn and pvvned right on over here.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
