Papercuts make some of the most exquisite, velvety dream pop anywhere -- so we're lucky to have them here in S.F. Normally we associate Jason Quever's understated melancholy with the colder seasons, but this year, his band will be releasing a new album, Life Among the Savages, at the height of summer -- June 3. Today brings the first video clip from the album, for the title track. It blends footage of Quever and his bandmates moping elegantly with some fun footage of the S.F. Zoo -- including that feline character you see above. The song is ornate and pretty even by Papercuts standards, with layers of acoustic guitars, strings, and breathy vocals. Check out the video below, and catch Papercuts celebrating their new album on Saturday, May 31, at the Chapel.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
