Metallica Day @ AT&T Park

Friday, May 16, 2014

Giants fans got a treat Friday when the city's favorite metal boys showed up at A&T Park to perform the national anthem, auction off custom guitars for charity, and throw out the first pitch of the game. Metallica's James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett gave a Hendrix-conjuring performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner," while Lars Ulrich handled duties from the mound. Unfortunately, the back-and-forth battle on the diamond proved too much for Giants, with the Miami Marlins defeating San Francisco 7-5. SF Weekly photographer Christopher Victorio was on hand for Giants Day at AT&T Park and sent back these photos of the Metallica boys mulling around on the field.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
