The temperature is rising in San Francisco, which means it's almost time for the awesome, free, and pleasantly alfresco Stern Grove Music Festival. Every Sunday afternoon, from June 12 to August 24, Stern Grove will feature performances from a whole range of acts. And like every year before, this year's line-up is looking pretty damn good, with appearances by Rufus Wainwright, The Zombies, and Sergio Mendes (now there's a warm weather act if there ever was one). Again, we stress: free and alfresco.
Here's the full lineup:
Smokey Robinson and Patti Austin
Allen Stone and Yuna
San Francsico Symphony with Edwin Outwater conducting
Funky Meters and Sugar Pie DeSanto
Pupy Y Los Que Son Son and Vieux Farka Touré
Rufus Wainwright and Quartet San Francisco
Andrew Bird and the Hands of Glory and Todd Sickafoose's Tiny Resistors
Darlene Love and the Monophonics
Sergio Mendes and LoCura
The Zombies and Vetiver
All concerts begin at 2 p.m. at Stern Grove (19th and Sloat), but as with all things, seating favors an early arrival. Admission is free, but considering the service, we suggest you consider donating to help support the festival.
