Finally! It's here! Outside Lands! And if you don't already have a ticket, you can probably still find a good deal on one somewhere. For those of you lucky monkeys who are going, we'd like to help you to get the most of your weekend by encouraging you to wake up early and get your ass in front of a stage at an early hour this year. There's a lot of great stuff to see, but it's usually the earliest acts of the day who miss out on the big, enthusiastic audiences. Here are three good reasons not to sleep in too long this weekend, no matter how hungover you are from the night before.

Date: Friday, August 10, 2012
Get there at: 12 p.m.
For: Futurebirds

Oh, what's that? You desperately need to go to Outside Lands today because you don't want to miss Neil Young & Crazy Horse at 8:10pm on the Lands End stage? Well, if you're ending your evening with that, you need to start your day with Futurebirds. The Athens, Georgia sextet will ease you into the day gently, with their dreamy backwoods alt-folk providing the perfect accompaniment to your first cold beer. Even at, yes, noon, when they arrive on the Panhandle stage. They have banjos and mandolins, but they're not afraid of a bit of feedback --- and that's a great combination.

Date: Saturday, August 11, 2012
Get there at: 12:30 p.m.
For: Zola Jesus

Look, we know it's weird suggesting you get up early to go watch goth stuff. Ordinarily, we'd advise against it on principle, but we think the odd nature of this dark spectacle during the daytime will be worth the trip. Kind of like running into Siouxsie Sioux picking up her dry cleaning. Or accidentally seeing Glenn Danzig buying his cat litter. Zola Jesus is going to be so out of place in a sunny field before lunch time, that you kind of have to go watch her on the Lands End stage, just to see if she explodes in sunlight or not.

Date: Sunday, August 12, 2012
Get there at: 12:15 p.m.

For: Allen Stone

Wanna see a nerdy white guy who dresses a bit like a bag lady sing like a sweet soul brother? We do! Shake off that Sunday morning hangover from a Saturday well spent, roll last night's Metallica-inflicted mosh-ache out of your neck, and rush over to the Lands End stage to catch Allen Stone. His super-smooth soul will ease your pain and get you centered enough to cope with day three in a field. It's no accident that he's performing the same day as Stevie Wonder, either. His is the perfect set to get you in the mood for the delights that await later.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
