Regular readers of this blog will know we've got a big thing for the city-centric boom-bap of Richie Cunning, an S.F. native and rapper extraordinaire. The man builds classic jazz and soul samples into head-nodding beats, then rhymes detail-laden, deeply personal stories about his native burg over them. Cunning is holding his first-ever headlining show at Elbo Room tomorrow night, and just dropped this new video for "The Station," a highlight off of his full-length album Night Train. Unsurprisingly given the title of the song, the video follows Cunning on an odyssey through the tunnels, seats, and stations of the incomparable S.F. Muni system, stealing a few nips from a brown-bagged bottle along the way. Take a quick ride with Richie after the jump.

Cunning performs this Friday, Nov. 11, at Elbo Room.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
