Oakland rapper Mistah F.A.B. exclusively debuted a new song and video yesterday on World Star Hip Hop. According to the counter on the popular urban site, "Ups and Downs" garnered more than 1.5 million views before the end of the day.

Over a bed of haunting minor-key chords, F.A.B. recounts some of his successes and losses of the past few years, including the dissolution of his major label deal and weekly radio program and something even more deeply personal. He echoes what he told All Shook Down: He lost his mother at the end of 2010. An ode to the superficiality of fairweather friends, he raps:

"When I was on the radio everybody called me/When I got off air, man, they tried to blackball me/See who your friends are when your times are hard/Or who was just trying to shine off your shining star."

Peep the heartfelt video after the jump.

Catch Mistah F.A.B. performing live at the All Shook Down Music Fest on Aug. 6 at the Regency Center.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
