In case you thought those dapper vests worn by the likeable Brits in Mumford and Sons were all just for anachronistic show, here's proving they aren't: Along with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show, the British folk-rock group is planning to tour the western U.S. via the dapper-est and most old-timey transport mode since, uh, the horse: A train -- and not just any Amtrak, but a train of vintage rail cars. They're calling it the Railroad Revival Tour -- and it begins right here in the Bay Area.

The iron horse revival starts down the tracks in Oakland on April 21, with a show at the not-so-common-concert venue of Middle Harbor Shoreline Park. From there, the 15-car, two-locomotive train will choo-choo south through L.A., Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas before ending in New Orleans, with the bands playing six shows along the way.

Guess when you've played with Bob Dylan at the Grammys like Mumford and Sons just did, the ol' tour bus just doesn't cut it anymore. Or maybe, having lived out one childhood fantasy, you feel inclined to follow up on the rest as well. Either way, tickets for the Oakland show go on sale at 9 a.m. tomorrow for the not-insignificant price of $55 - $150. But the tickets are one-of-a-kind commemorative editions for each show, carry no extra fees, and include an MP3 download of live recordings from the tour.

So will this run actually revive the railroad? Will it inflict the chaotic spirit of the Wild West upon eager concertgoers? Will it -- gasp! -- actually burn coal? We don't know, but it does kinda make us want one of those old-timey vests.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
