It's Thanksgiving, which means in just a few days it will be officially Christmastime, folks. But let us walk you gently into the season of obliviously cheerful jingles with a non-oblivious one: "All I Want Is Truth For Christmas," a new Christmas song from the Mynabirds (the solo project of one Laura Burhenn), which thankfully doesn't pretend the world is all rosy just because it's cold (well, sort of) and everyone's at the mall. Also after the jump: a faded, old-school video for "What We Gained In the Fire," the opening track from the Mynabirds' seriously excellent debut album, What We Lose In the Fire We Gain in the Flood.

Check out this protest-song-as-Christmas-jingle, which you can download for the price of an e-mail:

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
