"How would you feel with your hands in cuffs and a clip to your head/ Would you beg to us?" ask By Area rappers Young Gully and Roach Gigz on "What If," a new single/download from Gully's furious and mournful new, Oscar Grant-dedicated album

That's a choice line from a song full of scathing ones. Gully's new record, The Grant Station Project, is intended as a tribute to Grant, the 22-year-old father who was "executed" (according to Gully) by BART police officer Johannes Mehserle January 1, 2009.  This is one hell of an angry tribute.

The whole record is available for $1 or more on Bandcamp, but you can download "What If" for free. All proceeds go to Grant's family.

And keep it peaceful out there, people.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
