Morning Benders Still Look Fresh From Berkeley Campus in New Video

Posted By on Wed, Sep 1, 2010 at 10:10 AM

Jack Ferry directed this simple, cute clip for the Berkeley-born Morning Benders' "All Day Day Light," from the band's still-stunning album Big Echo. It has the four band members bangin' through the song while changing clothes as the seasons inside the studio seem to change. Which means: fall leaves on the drum kit, and a snowball fight at the end. The song's lyrics flash insistently across the front of the screen in bright colors, like some '80s-meets-YouTube mashup. And never underestimate the mystery-enhancing power of sunglasses -- its the only thing keeping these guys looking like they aren't still fresh from the Cal campus (even if frontman Chris Chu and his brother Jon are the only ex-UC Berkeley students in the band.)

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
