Watch New Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Movie By FolkYeah's Britt Govea

Posted By on Tue, May 18, 2010 at 8:24 AM

As promised, a new film short starring Bonnie 'Prince' Billy premiered online this week. The movie, Hombre Sencillo, was written and directed by Britt Govea, also known as the indie promoter (((FolkYeah))), which has produced some amazing shows in Big Sur, the Santa Cruz mountains, and more recently in Oakland and San Francisco. It was through booking Billy along the coast that Govea met the Kentucky songwriter and actor, and the two filmed this movie with a full crew in San Juan Bautista in a matter of days.

The film is also being hosted at the site for another of Govea's music projects, the record label Grass Roots Record Co. that he works on with Mark Snegg. Check out the Hombre page on that site for a full list of credits and you'll see some familiar faces among the senors and senoritas: among them Snegg, Bart Davenport, and others from the Bay Area music industry.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
