For years, Meklit Hadero has been a Mission fixture, working with the Red Poppy Art House and the Mission Arts and Performance Project. Now she's stepping out as a singer, as Sam Prestianni writes of this global-gazing songwriter in this week's issue.

Hadero's label, Porto Franco, is offering a free download of her new debut, On a Day Like This..., in exchange for your email address. Check out the widget above.

Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
