SF Weekly is Hiring a Music Editor

Posted By on Sat, May 8, 2010 at 8:27 AM

We have an immediate opening for music editor. This is a full-time position. The music editor oversees the All Shook Down blog and our weekly print section.

Applicants should have at least five years' experience writing about music and boast the clips to prove it. We want someone who goes to shows regularly, is knowledgeable about a variety of genres, and likes to cover both indie and mainstream acts. (No rock snobs, please.) We don't want a cheerleader; we want a critic. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an ability to be critical of musicians and others in the music industry.

The bulk of the job is spent producing content for the Web, so we need people who are savvy about Internet culture and social media. We'll consider it a plus if you're already active on Twitter.

Email your cover letter, resume, and clips (or story links) to andy.wright@sfweekly.com.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
