Video of the Day: Metallica Stirs Up Another Riot

Posted By on Fri, Mar 12, 2010 at 11:04 AM

What is it about Metallica shows in South America that makes the fans so crazy? Today Spin reported that the Bay Area legends caused a second riot in two months, this time in Bogota, Columbia, where police sprayed overeager metalheads with tear gas and water canons. At the end of January, the band played Santiago, Chile and caused a similar reaction: too many rockers wanted in, too many cops headed to the scene.

In both cases, the media noted this was the first time Metallica played these countries in at least a decade. Absence (and perhaps Guitar Hero) makes the heart grow fonder, sure, but this is a little ridiculous. Keep this up, South American superfans, and you're gonna land these guys back in therapy.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
