Oxbow's Eugene S. Robinson Offers 'A Long Slow Screw'

Posted By on Mon, Feb 22, 2010 at 1:59 PM

Noise-rocking and ass-kicking expert Eugene S. Robinson can now add another published book to his list of accomplishments. Oxbow's burly frontman recently released a new bit of fiction--A Long Slow Screw, which follows a street-smart crook named Jake Paternostra through Manhattan in the '70s. One can imagine plenty of action scenes, if his last book, Fight: Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Ass Kicking But Were Afraid You'd Get Your Ass Kicked For Asking, is any indication.

Those wanting to hear a little bit of the novel live--or who, perhaps, are curious about the circumference of Robinson's biceps these days--can attend A Long Slow Screw reading March 11 at Ghost Town Gallery. And unlike those infamous Oxbow shows, his record label promises the singer will keep his dick in his pants for once on the book tour (this, despite the title of the book).

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
