Video of the Day: The Younger Lovers by KUSF's Irwin Swirnoff

Irwin Swirnoff--one of my favorite DJs on KUSF, where he goes by the

nickname Sleeves on Hearts--has a double life as a video director. Late last year, he directed a Wooden Shjips clip for Motorbike.

Swirnoff recently finished a video for The Younger Lovers,

the latest musical project from Brontez of Gravy Train!!!! (Brontez also publishes the zine Fag School). This new gig takes

influence from garage rock and girl groups, making it perfect for the

black and white format Swirnoff used for the single "Sha-Boo-Lee."

The song is a sweet boy crush ditty, with sonic distortion and personal indiscretions competing for attention like an early Dirtbombs single. One note: there's a shot at the end of Brontez' naughty bits, making the last 30 seconds or so a little NSFW.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
