What happens when you get a little Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley) in your James Mercer (The Shins)? Going by the sound of the first track to be released from this partnership, "The High Road," it sounds a little something like Beck, another indie/alt rock artist Danger Mouse has worked with in recent years.

"The High Road" is available for download at the Broken Bells site for free if  you throw down an email address. You can also preview it at Stereogum.

It's an interesting track, starting off in some bubbly space funk and then grounding itself in Mercer's signature vocals and slowly blooming orchestral pop with a shuffling dance beat.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
